Mrs. Alma Jean Hester, age 76 of Vernon, AL, passed away Monday, November 24, 2014, at her residence.
Mrs. Hester was born May 2, 1938, in Hackleburg, AL, to the late Garvin and Ruby McCarley. She was a ladies fashion sales representative with Montgomery Ward and a nurse's aide at Lamar Regional Hospital. Mrs. Hester was a member of Springfield Freewill Baptist Church and loved her church family. She also loved her flowers, working in her flower beds, and sitting with the elderly. She was also preceded in death by her two brothers, Bobby (Betty Jean) McCarley of Baldwyn, MS and Leeburn McCarley of Hackleburg, AL, and her brother-in-law, Price Irvin Pierce of Hackleburg, AL.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2:00 in the funeral home chapel with Wade Peoples officiating. Burial will follow at Lamar Memory Gardens. Visitation will be Wednesday 1-2 prior to the service.
Survivors include her husband, Richard Hester of Vernon, AL; her sister, Nell Pierce of Hamilton, AL; one niece, Judith Ann (Gary) Wilkinson of Hamilton, AL; five nephews, Ricky (Kelly) McCarley, Roger (Rhonda) McCarley, Robby McCarley, Timothy McCarley, and Tracy McCarley, all of Baldwyn, MS; her sister-in-law, Ann McCarley of Missouri; and three special friends, Bobbie McDaniel of Sulligent, AL, Patricia Davis of Vernon, AL, and Edna Faye Lucas of Vernon, AL.
