Anna Banks Pounders Eskridge, age 96 of Vernon, AL, died on Monday, January 28, 2019, at Generations of Vernon, in Vernon, AL.

Mrs. Eskridge was born January 4, 1923, to the late Asa McCarver and Lessie Sanders McCarver.  She was the wife of the late J.C. Pounders and T.J. Eskridge.  She was a member of Vernon First United Methodist Church.

She is survived by a daughter, Linda (Dan) Pennington of Nashville, TN; two step-daughters, Joyce Anne (Carl Ray) Woods and Merry (James) Rogers, both of Vernon, AL; one step-son, Tommy (Connie) Eskridge of Vernon, AL; two sisters, Polly Cannon of Midfield, AL and Wynell Hill of Montgomery, AL; nine step-grandchildren; 17 step-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Mrs. Eskridge was preceded in death by her husbands; an infant son; an infant daughter; a brother, Jack McCarver; a sister, Willadine Bush; three brothers-in-law, Venton Cannon, W.J. Hill, and Bill Bush; and a nephew, Jerry McCarver.

Funeral services will be held Friday, February 1, at 2:00 PM at the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Patrick Cooley officiating.  Burial will follow at Sanders Cemetery.  Visitation will be held 1:00-2:00 PM prior to the service.

Active pallbearers will be Wayne Baines, Frank Cannon, Jackie Guyton, Mark Guyton, Eddie McNees, and Carl Ray Woods.  Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Cannon, Danny Cannon, John McCarber, Frankie McCarver, Randy Bush, and Denny Bush.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Vernon First United Methodist Church, Sanders Cemetery Fund at Citizens State Bank, or to the charity of your choice.
