Mrs. Balma Mary Bowen, age 97 of Caledonia, MS, passed away Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at her home in Caledonia, MS surrounded by her loving and supporting family.
Mrs. Bowen was born April 18, 1916, in Lamar Co., AL to the late William and Cora Jane Enis Moore. She was a member of Springfield Baptist Church for years and retired from United Technology After 24 years of dedicated service. Mrs. Bowen's interest included her home, hand sewing, embroidery, and quilting. In addition to her parents, she was preced in death by her husband of 69 years, Luther Bowen; four sisters, Gracie Moore, Ola Huguley (Ellie), Edith (Lloyd) Weeks, and Dovie (Hunter) Rooker; six brothers, Infant Moore, Clarice (Frances) Moore, Carl (Ollie) Moore, Dallas Moore, William (Nell) Moore, and Willard Moore; and her close friends, Herchel and Lois Gallop.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 2:00 in the funeral home chapel with Oscar Maddox and Charles Flippo officiating. Burial will follow at Furnace Hill. Visitation will be Friday evening 6-8.
Mrs. Bowen is survived by her sons, Robert (Anne) Bowen and Jimmy (Belinda) Bowen of Caledonia, MS; her brother, J.A. (Wilma) Moore; her sister, Clara Mae McGough; five grandchildren, Tim (Penny) Bowen, Steve (Pam) Bowen, Marissa Bowen, Russell (Carol) Bowen, and Valisa (Josh) Martin; and nine great-grandchildren.
