Mrs. Nora Beatrice Christian Oakes, born on June 12, 1925 to the late Noah Washington Christian and Myrtle Izara Poore Christian, went home to be with her Lord on January 12, 2017.

Beatrice was laid to rest at Oakes Chapel Missionary Baptist Church cemetery in the Crossville Community. She and her late husband, A.P. Oakes, lived in this community where she was a homemaker. They raised four children, Sarah Porter, Ann Northington, Danny (Leondria) Oakes, and Michael (Marie) Oakes.

Beatrice is also survived by three grandchildren, Kevin (Wendy) Northington, Christy (Sammy) Merchant, and Nathan (Elizabeth) Oakes; and six great-grandchildren, Parker (Katie) Northington, Molly Merchant, Brad Merchant, Scott Merchant, Abby Oakes, and Ethan Oakes.

Beatrice's family was her greatest accomplishment and she enjoyed spending time with them.

Beatrice was preceded in death by her husband, Archie Patterson (A.P.) Oakes; her grandson, Jeremiah Porter; her son-in-law, Deotis Porter; her parents; five brothers, Jim, Tom, John, Brown, and Rufus Christian; three sisters, Omedell, Brooks, and Bummel; her grandfathers, Rufus Poore and Jesse Christian; and her grandmothers, America Sorrels Poore and Nancy Younger Christian.
