Obituary
Mrs. Betty Sue Smith, age 67 of Vernon, AL, passed away Sunday, October 26, 2014, at DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa.
Mrs. Smith was born March 4, 1947, in Fayette, AL, to the late Perry "Pete" and Ruth Audean "Dean" Elliott. She worked in the fabrication department at Emerson and was a member of Oakes Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Linda Carol Smith; two brothers, Leslie Paul Elliott and Perry Franklin Elliott; and her niece, Marsha Denise Elliott.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2:00 at Oakes Chapel Missionary Baptist Church with Billy Carl Sullivan and Scotty Stovall officiating. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday evening 6-9 at the funeral home.
Survivors include her husband, Stanley Riley Smith of Vernon, AL; two daughters, Tammy Smith (James) Overton of Coldwater, MS and Lisa Marie Smith of Vernon, AL; her son, Spencer (Beth) Smith of Millport, AL; three grandchildren, Ian Overton, Kaci Overton, and Simon Smith; her sister, Nina Ellen (Ricky) Perkins; her brother, Dennis Roy Elliott; and two brothers-in-law, Wade (Wanda) Smith and Johnny Smith.
