Mr. Billie B. Elliott, age 98, of Vernon, AL, passed away Sunday, January 1, 2023, at DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa.

Mr. Elliott was born April 2, 1924, in Lamar County, AL, to the late John H. and Vergie Elliott.  He served in the U.S. Army and World War II, then later worked for the City of Vernon.  Mr. Elliott was a member of Oakes Chapel Baptist Church, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening.  He was also preceded in death by his wife, Grace Oakes Elliott; his son, Terry Brooks Elliott; his great-grandson, James Micah Johnson; and 14 brothers and sisters, Walter Elliott, Evie Merchant, Luther Elliott, Tennie Tate, Millie Flynn, Charlie Elliott, Lela Lollar, Margie Sims, Edith Leigh, Mae Oakes, Pete Elliott, Evelyn Oakes, and Johnnie V. Elliott.

Funeral services will be Thursday, January 5, at 2:00 PM, at Oakes Chapel Baptist Church, with Billy Carl Sullivan and Bro. Joe Mosely officiating.  Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery.  Visitation will be Thurday, 1:00-2:00 prior to the service at the church.

Pallbearers will be Joseph Brown, Ryan Brown, Chris Brown, Daniel Lucas, Jeremy Johnson, and BoBo Bentley.

Survivors include two daughters, Kathy (Gerald) Billingsley and Jeanette (Ronnie) Brown; seven grandchildren, Sherry (Shawn) Russell, Kristi (BoBo) Bentley, Daniel Lucas, Mindy (Jeremy) Johnson, Joseph (Christy) Brown, Ryan (Sarah) Brown, and Chris (Stephanie) Brown; 13 great-grandchildren, Justin McKay, Ridge Russell, Kerri Bentley, Brook Bentley, Braeden Bentley,  Gracie Johnson, Eli Johnson, Jackson Brown, Parker Brown, Taylor Brown, Luke Brown, Jameson Brown, and Jaycee Claire Brown due in April; six great-great-grandchildren, Rylan, Ava, Harlie, Karlee, RJ, and Liala Paige; and two very dear caregivers, Jean Kelly and Mattie Prater.
