Mr. David Robert "Bob" Sullivan, age 87 of Vernon, AL, passed away Saturday, February 18, 2017, at Generations of Vernon.
Bob was born September 4, 1929, in Monroe Co., MS, to the late David Andrew and Quilla Sullivan. He served in the U.S. Army and Korean War then later went into the funeral business. Bob owned and operated Sullivan Funeral Home in Vernon from 1973-1984. After selling the funeral home, Bob went on to work for the Vernon Housing Authority, Emergystat, and the Lamar County Court House as a bailiff. He was a member of Nebo United Methodist Church and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and being with family. Bob was also preceded in death by his wife, Yvonne Sullivan.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2:00 from the chapel of Chandler Funeral Home with Terry McAdams officiating. Burial will follow at Lamar Memory Gardens. Visitation will be Tuesday 12-2 prior to the service.
Bob is survived by one daughter, Kaye Lyn Sullivan Slone of Vernon, AL; one son, David (Teresa) Sullivan of Vernon, AL; four grandchildren, Brandon (Shanda) Sullivan, Ethan Sullivan, Phillip (Tiffany) Slone, and Michael Paul Slone; three great-grandchildren, Tristin, Kylee, and Karly Slone, and one on the way; one niece, Barbara (Kenneth) Gravitt; and one nephew, Ronnie (Diane) Hill.
