Mr. Bobby Jerold Shackelford, age 79, of Columbus, MS, passed away Saturday, November 11, 2023, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Columbus.

Mr. Shackelford was born January 7, 1944, in Vernon, AL, to the late Lloyd Elbert and Mildred Laverne Shackelford.  He served in the U.S. Air Force and also worked in retail management.  He was also preceded in death by his five sisters, Betty Humbers, Linda Crosby, Penny Brom, Edith Bright, and Judith Graham, and his two brothers, Glen Shackelford and Danny Shackelford.

Funeral services will be Thursday, November 16, at 2:00 PM, in the chapel of Chandler Funeral Home, with Buddy Abernathy officiating.  A military graveside service will follow at Walnut Grove.  Visitation will be 1:00-2:00 prior to the service.

Active pallbearers will be Ralph Dyck, Tommy Coggins, Josh Garrett, Jacob Garrett, Jared Garrett, and Spence Wallingford.  Honorary pallbearers will be Kellon Stokes, Ron Crowe, Butch Edmondson, and staff at UAB Hospital.

Survivors include his wife, Elaine Shackelford, of Columbus, MS; two sons, Todd (Candi) Shackelford of Columbus, MS and Tim (Edie) Shackelford of Cleveland, TN; five grandchildren, Caitlin (Nick) Geeslin, Ridge Shackelford, Hannah (Dylan) Nugent, Pearce Shackelford, and Autumn Shackelford; and three great-grandchildren, Livie, Piper, and Lennon Geeslin.
