Mrs. Braxine Atkins Spann, age 85 of Vernon, AL, passed away Sunday, October 2, 2016, at Fayette Medical Center.

Mrs. Spann was born July 14, 1931, in Lamar Co., AL, to the late Ira Timothy and Lula Elma Atkins and was a cook and waitress at various restaurants. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Spann was also preceded in death by her husband, Arnold Spann, three sisters, and three brothers.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 3:00 in the chapel of Chandler Funeral Home with Glen Boman officiating. Burial will follow at Morton Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday 2-3 prior to the service.

Pallbearers will be Wayne Trimm, Glen Kyzer, Chuch White, D.J. Colburn, Phillip Thomas, and Dean Atkins.

Survivors include two sons, Dale (Janet) Spann and Donald (Elma Ann) Spann, both of Vernon, AL; a host of grandchildren, step-granchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert (Ruth) Atkins of Adamsville, AL; and host of nieces, nephews, and other family.
