Mr. Arron Brooks Chaffin, age 84 of Vernon, AL, passed away Tuesday, December 19, 2017, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Columbus.

Mr. Chaffin was born December 19, 1933, in Lamar Co., AL, to the late Macon and Louise Chaffin.  He served in the U.S. Army and was a farmer.  He enjoyed being with his family and fishing.  Mr. Chaffin was also preceded in death by his wife, Ozene Wright Chaffin, and his brother, Jerry Chaffin.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 3:00 PM at the First Baptist Church in Vernon with Bro. Randy Tolleson, Bro. Clyde Stevens, and Bro. Max Bobbitt officiating.  Burial will follow at Furnace Hill.  Visitation will be Thursday afternoon at the church 1:00-3:00 prior to the service.

Pallbearers will be Jacob Pruitt, Michael Mann, Aaron Tucker, Clay Rasbury, Gerry Burnette, David Pitts, Jerry Mays, and Billy Joe Turner.

Survivors include his wife, Kathleen Chaffin of Vernon, AL; two daughters, Shelby (Donald) Mann and Diane (Danny) Holmes; four grandchildren,  Jennifer (Jacob) Pruitt, Michael (Yanelin) Mann, Kelly (Aaron) Tucker, and Kerri (Clay) Rasbury; six great-grandchildren, Jackson and Joshua Pruitt, Alyssa, Sara, and Julianna Mann, and Claire Colins Rasbury; one step-son, Gerry (Kaye) Burnett; one step-daughter, Pamela (Watt) Brock; six step-grandchildren, Sarah (Chris) Wells, Karen (Caleb) Pounders, Rebecca Burnett, Elizabeth (Jonathan) Thomas, Kimberly (Brandon) Fischer, and Edmund (Haley) Brock; one sister, Martha Banks Hudson; and a host of other family and friends.
