Mrs. Carmen Teresa Smith, age 92 of Vernon, AL, passed away Tuesday, April 30, 2019, at Fayette Medical Center-DCH.

Mrs. Smith was born June 28, 1926, in New York, NY, to the late Benito and Pauline Gomez.  She was a nurse at the hospital in Vernon for a number of years and was married to the late Homer Smith.  Mrs. Smith enjoyed working at the hospital and being with her family and friends.

Funeral services will be Saturday morning at 11:00 in the chapel of Chandler Funeral Home with Bro. Terry McAdams officiating.  Burial will follow at Vernon City Cemetery.  Visitation will be Saturday morning 10:00-11:00 prior to the service.

Pallbearers will be the spouses of the granddaughters.

Survivors include two sons, Homer C. (Sharon) Smith, Jr. of Peoria, AZ and Henry (Pat) Smith of Vernon, AL; two daughters, Joyce (Don) Bell of Fayette, AL and Dorothy "Dot" (John) Andrews of Columbus, MS; seven granddaughters, Teresa (Mark) Ashby, Amber (Chris) Muller, Jennifer (Jimmy) McPherson, Jamie (Nick) Williams, Kimberly (John) Walcker, Danika (Brian) Barrett, and Daphne (Chad) Sprayberry; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
