Obituary
Mrs. Charlene South, age 73 of Vernon, AL, passed away Friday, March 2, 2012, at Fayette Medical Center-DCH.
Mrs. South was born September 30, 1938 to the late Aaron and Bessie Smitherman. She worked as an insurance agent for ALFA and did some bookkeeping. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Maurice South.
Funeral services will be Monday, March 5, at 2:00 in the funeral home chapel with Tim Meherg officiating. Burial will follow at Liberty Freewill Baptist Cemetery in the Crossville Community. Visitation will be Sunday evening 6-8.
Survivors are her son, Doug (Penny) South of Vernon, AL; daughter, Kathy (George) Traywick of Vernon, AL; four grandchildren, David Traywick, Shannon Bigham, Scotty Lowe, and Kristi South; three great-grandchildren, Preston Traywick, Lexi Bigham, and Gage Starfield; and one sister, Nell Chapman.
