Mrs. Charlene Wheeler, age 91 of Vernon, AL, passed away Tuesday, September 1, 2015, at her residence.

Mrs. Wheeler was born May 19, 1924, in Lamar Co., AL, to the late James Wesley and Martha C. Graham and was a seamstress and garment inspector. She was a member of the Church of Christ and enjoyed spending time her family and friends. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Wheeler was preceded in death by her husbands, Rufus Ray Rushing and William C. Wheeler; her son, William H. Wheeler; her step-son, Larry D. Wheeler; her grandson, Christopher Shackelford; two brothers, Elbert Graham and D. L. Graham; and two sisters, Lucille Graham and Willa Dean Pennington.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 11:00 in the funeral home chapel with Eddie Finch officiating. Burial will follow at Shiloh Cemetery in the Hightogy Community. Visitation will be Friday evening 6-8.

Mrs. Wheeler is survived by three sons, Donald Rushing of Vernon, AL, Roger Dale Wheeler of Vernon, AL, and David Lynn (Beverly) Wheeler of Vernon, AL; one daughter, Carolyn Jane (Robert) Tingler of Vernon, AL; 11 grandchildren, Joseph (Kim) Wheeler, Jessica (Ed) Gardiner, Justin Wheeler, Blake Wheeler, Amber Wheeler, Hollie (Eugene) Raymer, Shawn (Susie) Shackelford, Seaba (Chris) Poteet, Donnie (Andrea) Wheeler, Shane Wheeler, and Carrie (Kim) Strickland; 25 great-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two nieces, Sarah Atchenson and Janie (Connie) Stockton; two nephews, Kenneth (Margaret) Pennington and Robbie (Renee) Pennington.
