Obituary

Mr. Charles Wesley Corbell, age 82 of Vernon, passed away Sunday, Feb. 26, 2012, at Generations of Vernon.

Mr. Corbell was born May 17, 1929 to the late Garvin and Millie Hudson Corbill. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who was passionate about family, church, and life. Mr. Corbell was a member of Academy Baptist Church. He was a distinquished craftsman who had an excellent career working for Nelson Myers Construction, Modular Homes, Conn Construction, and Snead Construction. He deeply enjoyed spending his time outdoors. He took pride in growing delicious tomatoes and blueberries as well as fishing for crappie. This love of nature led him to become a park host at Dewayne-Hayes Campground for two years. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.

Mr. Corbell was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Curtis Corbell; and two sisters, Catherine Rogers and Ollie Rickman.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, Feb. 28, at 11:00 in the funeral home chapel with Don Baggett, Tray Kelley, and Doug Bridges officiating. Burial will follow at Furnace Hill. Visitation will be Monday evening 6-8.

Mr. Corbell is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ivernia Rogers Corbell of Vernon, AL; three daughters, Brenda (Earl) Berry, Dianne (Johnny) Glasgow, and Sharon (Wayne) Berry, all of Vernon, AL; four grandchildren, Nickie (Joe) Moseley, Brian (Terri) Berry, Jeremy (Jennie) Glasgow, and Steven Berry; five great-grandchildren, Ashton and Jenna Berry, Lindsie Jo and Laralee Moseley, and Gracie Glasgow; three sisters, Judy Coggins of Columbus, MS, Ruby Atkins of Caledonia, MS, and Laverne (Jack) Price of Ethelsville, AL; and a host of nieces and nephews.
