IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Chris
Cook
August 11, 1967 – November 23, 2024
Mr. Christopher "Chris" Charles Cook, age 57, of Vernon, AL, passed away Saturday, November 23, 2024, at his residence.
Chris was born August 11, 1967, to Carlene Rasbury Newman and the late Charles Cook. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Carrie Denise Cook.
Chris and his father mutually loved classic cars. Chris's favorites were Mustangs, hence his nickname name, King Pony. He was a huge NHRA fan. When it was time to watch a race, he would tell you "no talking until commercials."
Chris was loved by many and will be missed. He loved his babies (beloved dogs) Harley, Hemi, Mika, Little Bit, Bigun, Ted, and Coco, and they loved Chris. In December of 1991, Chris was in a very serious car wreck and as a result developed paraplegia. The family finds peace in knowing Chris is now free to fly.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, November 26, at 1:00 PM, in the chapel of Chandler Funeral Home, with Brandon Phillips officiating. Burial will follow at Lamar Memory Gardens. Visitation will be 12:00-1:00 prior to the service.
Pallbearers will be Tyler Newman, Patrick Pennington, Dan Newman, Tristan Plaisance, Barrett Newman, and Davis Newman.
Chris is survived by his mother, Carlene Newman, of Vernon, AL; his brother, Tyler (Amanda) Newman, of Foley, AL; his significant other, Georgette Rogers, of Vernon, AL; and a host of other family and friends.
