Mr. Clyde Frederick Kitchens, age 79 of Vernon, AL, passed away Tuesday, November 12, 2013, at DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa.

Mr. Kitchens was born October 20, 1934, in Lamar Co., AL, to the late William Hershal and Raye Crawford Kitchens. He served in the U.S. Air Force and was the president and CEO of City View Finance Co. Mr. Kitchens enjoyed spending time with his family, playing golf, fishing, hunting, and truck races. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, William Thaxton Kitchens and Hershal Lavert "Sonny" Kitchens.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 11:00 in the funeral home chapel with Judson Woodard and William Campbell officiating. Burial will follow at Shiloh cemetery in the Hightogy Community. Visitation will be Friday evening 6-8.

Active pallbearers will be Andrew Newby, John Kitchens, Jr., Phillip Glasgow, Don Barnes, Charlie Johnson, and Chuck Pennington. Honorary pallbearers will be Jonathan Edwards, Robert Holt, Renon Brown, and Marshal Burns.

Survivors include his wife of 58 1/2 years, Mary Sue Johnson Kitchens of Vernon, AL; two sons, Timothy Scott (Robin) Kitchens of Wilmington, NC and Tracey Brent (Jennifer) Kitchens of Fort Mill, SC; one daughter Paula (Jim) Kitchens Stephens of Lexington, SC; five grandchildren, Judson (Meghan) Woodard, Sarah Henderson, Rebekah (William) Campbell, Maura Kitchens, and Addison Kitchens; two great-grandchildren, Carter and Darby Woodard; two brothers, James Robert (Glenda) Kitchens of Vernon, AL and John Paul (Barbara) Kitchens of Vernon, AL; and one sister, Kathy Kitchens (Sherry Guffy) of Vernon, AL.
