Mrs. Eddie Dean Rushing, age 83 of Vernon, AL, passed away Thursday, December 7, 2017, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo.
Mrs. Rushing was born February 12, 1934, in Vernon, AL, to the late Zenus and Tennie Stapp. She was a member of Springfield Free Will Baptist Church and was an RN at the Lamar County Health Department for a number of years. Mrs. Rushing enjoyed being with her family and playing the piano. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Rushing was also preceded in death by her sister, Belva Pennington.
Funeral services will be Sunday at 2:00 in the chapel of Chandler Funeral Home Bro. John Johnson, Bro. Dan Turman, and Bro. Wade Peoples officiating. Burial will follow at Furnace Hill. Visitation will be Saturday evening 6:00-9:00.
Survivors include her husband, Tommie Rushing, of Vernon, AL; four daughters, Karen (Harold) Partain of Caledonia, MS, Debbie (Jay) Alvis of Dora, AL, Jennifer (Phillip) Bennett of Vernon, AL, and Dawn Wigington of Louisville, MS; five grandchildren, Ryan Partain, Jayme (Patrick) Rhodes, Ryleigh Bennett, Payton Wigington, and Tracen Wigington; four great-grandchildren, Ariel, Kyra, and Eli Partain, and Ellie Rhodes; two sisters, Betty Picklesimer and Sandra Williams; her dear friend, Lou Pennington; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family, and friends.
