Debbie R. Hall, 56, of Auburn, Ala., died Wednesday, June 3, 2015, at her father's residence in Vernon.
Debbie was born Nov. 20, 1958, in Columbus, Miss., to Edward Eugene Reeves and the late Mary Joyce Stacy Reeves. Growing up in Vernon, she worked at Black's Superette, the Polar Bar, NAPA Auto Parts, Chromolox, and was part owner and operator of the Vernon Restaurant. She graduated Lamar County High School in 1977. She married the love of her life, Neal Hall, in June 1979.
Education was an important theme throughout Debbie's life. She earned an associate's business degree from Draughn's Business School in Columbus, and an associate's degree from Brewer State Junior College in Fayette. From there, she earned a bachelor's degree with honors from Auburn University in early childhood education. Debbie taught third and fourth grade at Notasulga Elementary School for 10 years. Then, she earned her Juris Doctorate with honors from Jones School of Law and became a practicing attorney.
Debbie loved spending time with her family and friends. She played the piano, loved to travel and especially enjoyed trips to the beach. She loved to laugh and make others laugh with her childlike and humorous spirit. She spent her life nurturing, remembering, and encouraging others.
A sister, Sandy Reeves; her daughter, Felecia Nichole Hall, and her mother preceded her in death.
Debbie leaves behind to cherish her memory, her loving and devoted husband, Neal Hall; father, Eugene Reeves; a sister, Wendy Reeves, of Huntsville; a brother, Chris Reeves, and wife Amy, of Trussville; nieces, Mary Elizabeth Reeves and Gracie Reeves; nephew, Micah Reeves; stepmother, Beatrice Reeves, of Vernon; and a host of other family and friends.
Visitation was Saturday, June 4, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Chandler Funeral Home in Vernon. The funeral was 4 p.m., Sunday, June 5, at the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Daniel Berry and the Rev. Grant Mitchell officiating. Burial followed at Furnace Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers included Mark Hall, Junior McCluskey, Mike McDaniel, Chris Reeves, Mike Stacy, and Randy Stacy. Honorary pallbearers were Carroll Lee Gregg, Christopher Hall, Kevin Stacy, Glenn Rotenberry, Jeff Rotenberry, and Charles Westrom.
Donations may be made to the Debbie R. Hall Fund, which will be used to create a Calciphylaxis research grant in her honor. Donations can be taken to either Bank of Vernon location, or mailed to the Bank of Vernon, P.O. Box 309, Vernon, AL 35592, in care of the Debbie R. Hall Fund.
