Mr. Dick Martin Walters, age 91, of Hamilton, AL and formerly of Vernon, passed away Wednesday, September 18, 2019, at his residence in Hamilton.
Mr. Walters was born September 19, 1927, in Fayette, AL, to the late Elijah Wiley Walters and Ida Viola Livingston Walters. Mr. Walters served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, Korean War, and Vietnam Wars. After he retired from the Navy, Mr. Walters went to work with the civil service. In addition to his parents, Mr. Walters was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline Walters; his half-brother, Wayne Walters; three sisters, Annie Wallace, Blanche Johnson, and Ruby Johnson; and his niece, Patrice Johnson.
Funeral services will be Sunday at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Chandler Funeral Home with Bro. Dewayne Cantrell officiating. Burial will follow at Furnace Hill. Visitation will be Saturday evening 6:00-9:00.
Survivors include his daughter, Loretta (Ricky) Stanford of Hamilton, AL; two grandchildren, Christy (Jonathan) Reid of Muscle Shoals, AL and Justin Stanford of Hamilton, AL; one step-granddaughter, Angie (Jonathan) Paisley of Fayette, AL; one step-great-grandson, Zack (Kelsi) Paisley of Northport, AL; one step-great-great-grandson, Parker Cole Paisley of Northport, AL; three nieces, Ginger (David), Judy (David), Pam (Fred), and Paula (John); his nephew Phillip Johnson; his brother-in-law, Demp Johnson; and a host of other relatives and many friends.
