Mr. Donald Woods Carr, age 84 of Vernon, AL, passed away Tuesday, September 20, 2016, at Noland Hospital in Tuscaloosa.

Mr. Carr was born November 11, 1931, in Lamar Co., AL, to the late William and Lizzy Carr. He was a maintenance worker for the Vernon Housing Authority. In addition to his parents, Mr. Carr was preceded in death by three brothers, Gus Carr, Buck Carr, and A.C. "Coon" Carr, and three sisters, Claudie Rogers, Wilma Broussard, and Ethel Pennington.

Funeral services will be Friday at 2:00 from the chapel of Chandler Funeral Home with Bro. John Johnson and Bro. Carlos Dean officiating. Burial will follow at Furnace Hill. Visitation will be Thursday evening 6-9.

Pallbearers will be James Lacey, David Edgeworth, Blake Rogers, Jeffrey Carr, Les Carr, Tim Bobbitt, Kenny Jordan, and Greg "Porky" Russell.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Carr of Vernon, AL; one son, Tony (Rhonda) Carr of Samantha, AL; one grandson, Nathan Carr of Tuscaloosa, AL; one step-grandson, Blake Rogers of Samantha, AL; one brother, Billy (Margaret) Carr of Vernon, AL; a host of nieces, nephews, other family, and friends; and his best buddy, Sam.
