Mrs. Doris Laverne Fooshee, age 84, of Vernon, AL, passed away Tuesday, July 11, 2017, at Fayette Medical Center-DCH.

Mrs. Fooshee was born February 6, 1933, in Greenwood Springs, MS, to the late Greene and Violla Flippo. She was a golf shaft straightener at True Temper and was married to the late Scott Octave Fooshee. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Fooshee was also preceded in death by three brothers, Greene Flippo, Jr., Floyd Flippo, and Rayburn Flippo; and one sister, Hazel Cruise.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 2:00 in the chapel of Chandler Funeral Home with Paul Barham officiating. Burial will follow at Celebration Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday 1:00-2:00 prior to the service.

Survivors include one daughter, Dottie Pennington of Vernon, AL; one son, Tony Fooshee of Douglasville, GA; eight grandchildren, Keith Pennington, Heath Pennington, Leith Pennington, Scott Pennington, Bryan Fooshee, Matthew Fooshee, Shelby Smith, and Cody Fooshee; 12 great-grandchildren, Janna Pennington, Kaley Pennington, Luke Pennington, Brooklyn Pennington, Brylee Pennington, Kye Pennington, Farrah Pennington, Lilly Fooshee, Kayden Fooshee, Camdyen Smith, Rylee Grace Fooshee, and Ella Fooshee; two brothers, Charles Flippo of Gattman, MS and Billy Flippo of Sulligent, AL; and two sisters, Christine Welch of Hamilton, MS and Thelma Flynn of Sulligent, AL.
