Mrs. Doris Hopper Frady, age 89 of Maryville, TN and formerly of Steens, MS, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 3, 2021, at her home in Maryville.

Doris was born on August 11, 1931, in Vernon, AL, where she spent her childhood.  She traveled the U.S. extensively as an adult but maintained a home in Steens, MS for many years before moving to Maryville, TN.  Doris was a member of Greenback Church of Christ in Maryville.  She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Henry Jay Frady, who was affectionally known as "HJ" by all; her parents, James and Ola Mae Hopper; two brothers, JB and Jr. Hopper; and one sister, Jesse (Hopper) LaGrone.

Doris and "HJ" were entrepreneurs in the restaurant business for many years, having owned and operated several successful restaurants throughout the south from Mississippi to Florida.  Most notable, and remembered, by people in the Columbus, MS area, would be Frady's Dairy Bar in Steens, and the Old Plantation Restaurant in Columbus.  Doris was a homemaker, a faithful Christian, a loving mother, and a friend to all who knew her.  She also found time to work nineteen years at American Bosch (United Technologies) in Columbus, MS.

A celebration of life service will be held Friday, May 7, at 2:00 PM, in the chapel of Chandler Funeral Home.  Burial will follow at Lampkin Cemetery.  Friends of Doris's may come and sign the register book anytime from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM on Friday.

Honorary pallbearers will be her eight grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren.

Doris is survived by her son, Jerry Frady of Maryville, TN; daughter, Peggy (Jim) Elliott of West Point, MS; brother, Charles Hopper of Davenport, IA; brother-in-law, Billy Fred Frady of Huntsville, TX; eight grandchildren; and nineteen great-grandchildren.
