Mrs. Doris Mason Frye, age 98, of Vernon, AL, passed away Tuesday, January 30, at Generations of Vernon.

Mrs. Frye was born February 3, 1925, in Vernon, AL, to the late Ben and Maddie Wright.  She was a member of Springfield Free Will Baptist Church and was married to the late Claudus Mason for over 40 years.  Mrs. Mason worked as a cook at the hospital in Vernon and was a seamstress at the garment plant.

Mrs. Frye was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Claudus Mason, Dorsey Higdon, and Rollie Frye; her daughter, Linda Mason Ashby; her son, Randy George Mason; two granddaughters, Kathy Ashby and Kristi Mason Wetzel; her son-in-law, Roy Ashby, Jr.; and her brothers and sisters.

Visitation for Mrs. Frye will be Saturday, February 3, from 10:00-11:00 AM prior to the service at 11:00 AM, in the chapel of Chandler Funeral Home, with Bro. John Johnson officiating.  Burial will follow at Furnace Hill.  There will be no graveside service after the funeral service.

Pallbearers will be Jim Wright, Joey Scola, Vance Herron, Bill Mason, Zadus Turner, and Jackie Ashby.

Survivors include five grandchildren, Mark (Teresa) Ashby, Janet Ashby (Joey) Scola, Phebe Mason Gaines, Benjamin Lee Mason, and Kara Ashby (Colby) Martin; seven great-grandchildren, Lindsay, Caroline, Reed, Brady, Noah, Ashby, and Emerson; four great-great-grandchildren, Kash, Ashby Lynn, Beckham, and Ryker; and a host of nieces and nephews.
