Dorothy Jane Smith Crawford of Vernon went to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 31, 2019 atBaptist Memorial Hospital in Columbus, MS.   She was 84 years of age.

Funeral services will be held Friday, April 5 ^th 2019 at 1:00 pm at Chandler Funeral Home in Vernon, AL, with burial to follow in Fellowship Cemetery.  Bro. James Godsey and Bro Lynn Godsey will officiate the service.  Visitation will be Friday 12:00-1:00 prior to the service.

Dorothy was born August 6, 1934 in Lamar County, Alabama to Loncie Carruth Smith and Lawrence Kelly Smith.  She attended Wofford School and Sulligent School.  Dorothy married Bobby Gene Crawford on July 19, 1952.  She was a member of Oakes Chapel Church.  She worked at McCoy Manufacturing in Vernon.  Dorothy was a gifted seamstress and crocheted hundreds of beautiful blankets and doll clothes for the children in her family.  She had a great love for her family and was a kind and giving neighbor.  Dorothy also had a passion for caring for animals.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Bobby Crawford of Vernon, AL; one sister, Hester Rasbury (Kenneth) of Gardendale, AL; one brother, John Kelly Smith (Jonnie) of Sulligent, AL; one sister-in-law, Euple Smith, of Sulligent, AL; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and other family members  who loved her dearly.

She was preceded in death by a baby daughter, Sheila Ann; her parents; two brothers, Earl Lester Smith and Leslie Smith; and one sister, Vernell Rasbury.
