Obituary
Mr. Douglas Larry Perkins, age 60 of Vernon, AL, passed away Monday, Feb. 27, 2012, at Fayette Medical Center-DCH.
Mr. Perkins was born September 12, 1951 in Lamar Co., AL to the late William Choyce Perkins and Aleen Perkins. He worked as a deputy for the Lamar Co. Sheriff's Department for 33 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Johnny Perkins.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2:00 at Fellowship Baptist Church, where he will lie in state 12-2, with Danny Thompson and Doug Bridges officiating. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday evening 6-8 at Fellowship Baptist Church.
Survivors are his wife, Karon Perkins of Vernon, AL; two daughters, Emily Perkins of Sulligent, AL and Candy (Daren) Gordon of Vernon, AL; son, Rhett (Kristen) Trimm of Birmingham, AL; four grandchildren, Shiloh and Nicholas Gordon of Vernon, AL and Mason and Kendall Trimm of Birmingham, AL; brother, Terry (Sandy) Perkins of Vernon, AL; and step-father, Cleo Brown of Vernon, AL.
