Ms. Edna Earl Lawrence, age 91 of Vernon, AL, passed away Sunday, December 28, 2014, at Marshall Manor Nursing Home in Guntersville, AL.
Ms. Lawrence was born October 3, 1923, in Lamar Co., AL to the late James Finis and Aldie Sims Crawford. She was a member of the Progressive Club and a member First Baptist Church in Vernon where she was involved in many church activities. Ms. Lawrence served as President of both the Baptist Women and First Baptist Live Long and Like It Club for a number of years, director of the Adult Two Sunday School Class, and sang with the church choir for many years. She retired as the Chief Clerk from the Probate Judge's office in 1989 after 26 years and after having served under five judges. Ms. Lawrence dedicated her life to the city and people of Vernon, AL and to the first Baptist Church of Vernon. Ms. Edna Earl Lawrence was Vernon.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11:00 at the First Baptist Church with Clyde Stevens and Randy Tolleson officiating. Graveside services will follow at Vernon City Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday 10-11 at the church.
Survivors include her two daughters, Patsy L. Cox of Birmingham, AL and Peggy L. (Tim) Bishop of Guntersville, AL; two grandsons, Justin A. Cox of Santa Barbara, CA and Matthew C. (Sarah) Bishop of Auburn, AL; two sisters, Helen Robertson of Vernon, AL and Chapple Barnes of Birmingham, AL; her brother, Bilbo (Helen) Crawford of Birmingham, AL; and a number of nieces and nephews.
