Obituary

Sister Ella Ree Walker was born on December 22, 1927, to the late Jeddie and Arsula Hackman Carvin, in Lamar Co., Vernon, AL. Sister Walker passed away on July 4, 2015, at Fayette Medical Center-DCH in Fayette, AL.

She professed a hope in Christ at an early age, and later became a member of Murrah Shiloh Chapel CME Church in Vernon, AL. She was married to James Edward "Ed" Walker for 70 years. Through this union, she birthed four God-given children, and God blessed her with two additional children.

Sister Walker was a state certified Nursing Assistant for 26 years at Generations of Vernon, formerly known as Lamar County Convalescent Center, retiring February 10, 2006. While working in this capacity, she was honored as an employee of the month and received awards in outstanding performance, being the silent type and was part of the group Leaders in Quality Care.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Edward "Ed" Walker; her son, Bobby Lewis Walker; her parents, Jeddie and Arsula Hackman Carvin; brother, Joseph Carvin; sisters, Viola Carvin, Helen Riley, Wilda Walker, and Mattie Lowery; grandson, Gregory Walker; son-in-law, Len Mitchell; great-grandsons, Dylen Dudley, Brent Turner, and Alex Turner; and great-granddaughter, Alexus Turnter.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 12:00 in the chapel of Chandler Funeral Home with Elder Oscar M. Massey officiating. Graveside services will follow at Furnace Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday 11-12 prior to the service.

With cherished memories, she leaves daughters, Rosa Mitchell of Mt. Morris, MI, Sue (Floyd) Johnson of Flint, MI, Edna Lee of Matteson, IL, and Linda Jackson of Vernon, AL; her son, Johnny (Sarah) Orr of Tuscaloosa, AL; her daughter-in-law, Mary Frances Walker of Vernon, AL; two brothers, Robert Carvin of Kansas City, KS and Arthur Carvin of Kansas City, KS; 15 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; a host of nieces, nephews, and friends; and special friend of the family, Mac Washington.
