Mr. Elmer Murphy, Jr., age 83 of Vernon, AL, passed away Wednesday, July 7, 2021, at Hospice of West Alabama.

Mr. Murphy was born July 27, 1937, in Lamar County, AL, to the late Elmer Murphy, Sr. and Sarah Brewer Murphy.  He served in the U.S. Air Force, and was a construction worker.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Murphy was also preceded in death by two brothers, Johnny (Betty) Murphy and Jim Murphy; an infant sister; and two nephews, Tony Murphy and Mick Cox.

The family will have a memorial service at a later date.

Survivors include three brothers, Jack (Melvalene) Murphy, of Alabaster, AL, Gene (Leah) Murphy, of Eufaula, OK, and Phillip (Judi) Murphy, of Peoria, AZ; one sister, Hazel (Mike) Colvin, of Vernon, AL; his nieces and nephews who were special to him, Christy (Aaron), Hagen, Ella, and Braxton Black, Lee (Aleigha), Arabelle, Zeke, and Zaidyn Colvin, Jimmy Murphy, Kelly Cox, Buffy Murphy, Liz Thompson, Melvin Murphy, Lynn Morgan, Pam Murphy, and Linda Pederson; and his special family from 2001-2021, the staff and residents of Generations of Vernon.
