Mr. Lecil Elwin Cline, age 94 of Vernon, AL, passed away Wednesday, September 30, 2015, at Generations of Vernon.
Mr. Cline was born December 28, 1920, in Lamar Co., AL, to the late Willie and Ila Cline. He served in the U.S. Army and World War II and was the owner/operator of Mac's Minit Mart. Mr. Cline enjoyed watching football and baseball and was inducted into the Lamar Co. Sports Hall of Fame. He was also a member of Friendship South Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be Friday at 2:00 in the funeral home chapel with Bros. Carlos Dean and M.H. Hollis officiating. Burial will follow at Wofford Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday evening 6-8.
Active pallbearers will be Terry Cline, Ted Conn, Barney Conn, Joe Shepherd, Jeff Conn, and Mike Conn. Honorary pallbearers will be Danny Atkins, James Gunnells, Youell Cantrell, C.H. Cantrell, and Billy Carr.
Mr. Cline is survived by his wife of 39 years, Jeanette Cline of Vernon, AL; his son, Gene Cline of Belzona, MS; his step-daughter, Kitty (Ray) Pennington; one grandson, Thomas (Amber) Pennington; two great-grandchildren, Laken and Slade Pennington; one sister, Peggy (Bob) Sanders of Auburn, AL; and a host of family and friends.
