Master Sargent Ernesto Gonzales, age 89, of Millport, AL, passed away Monday, April 28, 2025, at Fayette Long Term Care.

Mr. Gonzales was born in San Benito, TX on April 27, 1936, to the late Raul and Elisa (Olivarez) Gonzales.  He served 26 years as a U.S. Marine and 25 years as an Alabama Probation and Parole officer, retiring from both.  He was a Korean and Vietnam veteran.  He and his wife Mary lived in Millport for 50 years.  He was married to the late Mary Dell Pollard Gonzales for 50 years, and was also preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.

Mr. Gonzales will be buried at the Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo, AL alongside his wife Mary.

Mr. Gonzales is survived by his sister, Rebecca Camacho of California, and three daughters, Cherri Lawson of Arizona, Kristi Alvera of California, and Monica Slater of Arizona.
