Mr. Fred Franklin Schlosser, age 79 of Vernon, AL, passed away Tuesday, August 27, 2013, at his residence.

Mr. Schlosser was born October 11, 1933, in Florence, AL, to the late Rev. Fred Joseph and Tezzie Turner Schlosser. He recieved his BA degree in voice at Birmingham Southern and his Masters degree in instumental music from the University of Alabama. Mr. Schlosser was a band director for for two years in Demopolis, AL; eight years in Camden, AL; and twenty-two years in the Cobb County, GA school district which included East Cobb Middle School, Wheeler High School in Marietta, GA, and Dodgen Middle School. Mr. Schlosser also served as choir director at Camden Methodist Church, Woodstock First Baptist Church in Woodstock, GA and at Powers Ferry United Methodist Church. Mr. Schlosser retired from the Cobb County Schools in 1987 and moved to Vernon, AL where he was choir director at Calvary Baptist Church and bailiff at the Lamar County Court House. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his son, Joseph (Joe) Milton Schlosser.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 2:00 at Calvary Baptist Church where he will lie in state 1-2 with Rev. Wil Corbett and Judge Ed Gosa officiating. A graveside service will follow at Fellowship Baptist Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday evening 6-8 at the funeral home.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Sylvia Kitchens Schlosser of Vernon, AL; one daughter, Suzy (Butch)Rawls of Vernon, AL; one son, Mark Schlosser of Marietta, GA; one granddaughter, Katlyn Schlosser (Matt) Allen of Fayetteville, NC; and one great-grandson, Brennan Allen.
