Mr. Howard Eugene "Gene" Sloat, age 68, of Vernon, AL, passed away Saturday, May 20, 2023, at his residence.

Mr. Sloat was born June 6, 1954, to the late Howard and Annie Sloat.  He was a retired truck driver, and was preceded in death by one grandson, Dawson Studdard.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 23, at 5:00 PM, in the chapel of Chandler Funeral Home, with Bro. James Godsey officiating.  Burial will follow at Lamar Memory Gardens.  Visitation will be 3:00-5:00 prior to the service.

Pallbearers will be Clyde Murdock, Wayne Rogers, Jimmy Wade Rogers, Johnny Allen, Isabella White, and Steven Evans

Survivors include his wife, Artie Boshell; two daughters, Jennifer (Clyde) Murdock and Kayla (Cody) Studdard; one son, Justin (Brooke) Wallace; and nine grandchildren.
