Obituary
Mr. George "Joe" Cleveland Carter, age 78 of Sulligent, AL, passed away Sunday, February 9, 2014, at DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa.
Mr. Carter was born February 25, 1935, in Aberdeen, MS. He was a musician and served in the U.S. Navy and Korean War. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Linda Sanders.
A memorial service will be Sunday, February 16, at 3:00 at Corinth Baptist Church.
Mr. Carter is survived by his wife, Ava Nell Carter of Sulligent, AL; three daughters, Sandra Carol Hamon (Larry Burke) of Lake Wales, FL, Sharon Anita (GEO) Boothroyd of Raleigh, NC, and Candy Carter of Brandon, MS; six grandchildren; a step-son, Berry Whitaker of Sulligent, AL; one sister, Marylin Gillreath of Aberdeen, MS; and one brother, James Carter of Greenville, SC.
