Obituary
Mr. Hershal (Sonny) Lavert Kitchens, age 69 of Vernon, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2011, at Fayette Medical Center-DCH in Fayette, AL.
Mr. Kitchens was born Dec. 7, 1942 in Birmingham, AL to the late Hershal William and Raye Crawford Kitchens. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Thaxton Kitchens.
Funeral services will be Friday at 2:00 at the First Baptist Church with John Paul Kitchens and Clyde Stevens officiating. Burial will follow at Vernon City Cemetery. Visitation will be 12-2 at the church prior to the service.
Survivors are three brothers, Clyde F. (Sue) Kitchens of Vernon, James R. (Glenda) Kitchens of Vernon, and John Paul (Barbara) Kitchens of Vernon; sister, Kathy Kitchens of Vernon; special friend, Sherry Guffey of Vernon; and a host of nieces and nephews.
