On the 30th day of August 2026, Howard Phillips went home to the Lord.

Mr. Phillips was born December 31, 1943, in Monroe County, MS, to the late William Neville Phillips and Maudie Mae (Matthis) Phillips, and married Hazel Mae (Cunningham) Phillips on October 6, 1967.  He served in the U.S Army as a Specialist E4 on the Demolitions Team in the Vietnam War.  He was a faithful member of People's Tabernacle Church in Sulligent, AL and was a factory worker at Walker Manufacturing.  Mr. Phillips enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was a devoted husband, father, and PawPaw to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Leon Phillips and Harold Phillips, and two sisters, Earline Capps and Louise Cox.

Funeral services will be Thursday, September 3, at 2:00 PM, at People's Tabernacle with Bro. Phillip Blaylock and Craig Chandler officiating.  Burial will follow at Sulligent City Cemetery.  Visitation will be at the church 1:00-2:00 prior to the service.

Pallbearers will be Harley Rye, Madison Croft, Kevin Black, Jeff Gosa, Phillip "Bubba" Blaylock, and Richard Brown.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Hazel Phillips, of Gattman, MS; two sons, George (Melissa) Phillips of Sulligent, AL and Jeffery (Kayla) Phillips of Gattman, MS; his grandchildren, Shanda (Rocky) Hall, Cheyennea Phillips, Magan (Harley) Rye, Amber Phillips, Kimberly Phillips, and Taylor (Madison) Croft, Harley Joe Peeks, Trinity Witke, Elektra Witke, and Dustin Patchen; his great-grandchildren, Emma Rye, Zachary "Peanut" Davidson, Oliver Rye, Macie Patton, and Asher Croft; two sisters, Fayedean (George) Wright and Josephine (Gray) Smith; and a host of nieces, nephews, his church family, and honorary grandkids.
