Obituary
Mr. Jake C. Johnson, age 89 of Vernon, AL, passed away Saturday, October 3, 2015, at the Hospice of West Alabama in Tuscaloosa.
Mr. Johnson was born May 26, 1926, in Lamar Co., AL, to the late Benjamin A. and Serena (Ayers) Johnson. He served in the U.S. Navy and World War II and was a meat market manager and butcher. Mr. Johnson was also preceded in death by a daughter, Becky Caraletta Johnson; a son, Jeffery Jake Johnson; a brother, Lawson Johnson; and a sister, Minnie Lee Allen.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2:00 in the funeral home chapel with Keith Howell, Dr. Paul Click, and Jerry Grammer officiating. Burial will follow at Christian Chapel cemetery. Visitation will be Monday evening 6-8.
Pallbearers will be Donald Herron, Jason Johnson, Austin Hankins, Todd Cantrell, Demp Johnson, and Paul Curry.
Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife, Chapple Johnson of Vernon, AL; one son, Jimmy Curry (Brenda) Johnson of Tuscaloosa, AL; one daughter, Melissa (Donald) Herron of Vernon, AL; three grandchildren, Jason C. (Michelle) Johnson, Dee Ann (Austin) Hankins, and Jana (Todd) Cantrell; four great-grandchildren, Brylan Johnson, Jacey Johnson, Ansley Cantrell, and Colt Hankins; and a host of family and friends.
