Obituary
Mr. James Earnest Bookout, age 79 of Vernon, AL, passed away Sunday, August 24, 2014, at Northwest Medical Center in Winfield.
Mr. Bookout was born May 13, 1935, in Marion Co., AL, to the late Jay B. and Frances Bookout. He worked in shipping at General Tire. In addition to his parents, Mr. Bookout was also preceded in death by his brother, Ralph Bookout, Rufus Bookout, Edward Tom Bookout, and Fred Bookout, and two sisters, Lillie Hill and Virginia Nichols.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2:00 in the funeral home chapel with James Godsey officiating. Burial will follow at Furnace Hill. Visitation will be Tuesday evening 6-9.
Survivors include his wife, Lavelle Bookout of Vernon, AL; his daughter, Shelby Bookout of Vernon, AL; his son, James Bookout of Sulligent, AL; a special family friend, Don Hodges of Sulligent, AL; his sister, Mary Ruth (Clarence) Atkinson of Wayside, AL; and a host of nieces and nephews.
