Mr. Jimmy Davis Hankins, age 68 of Vernon, AL, passed away Tuesday, June 21, 2016, at his residence.
Mr. Hankins was born August 1, 1947, to Edna Grace Wells and the late Chester Collins Hankins. He served in the U.S. Army and Vietnam War and was a shipping clerk for Ford Motor Co. In addition to his father, Mr. Hankins was also preceded in death by his son, James Eric Hill, and his brother, Samuel Hankins.
Funeral services will be Friday at 3:00 in the chapel of Chandler Funeral Home with David Westmoreland and Joe Moseley officiating. Graveside services will follow at Oakes Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday 1-3 prior to the service.
Survivors include his wife, Helen Anita Hankins of Vernon, AL; two sons, Jimmy Dean Hankins of Kileen, TX and Robert Wayne (Margaret) Hankins of Canton, MI; his mother, Edna Grace Wells; eight grandchildren, Joanna Hankins, Christopher Hill, Zachary Hill, Tyler Hill, Mary Hill, Noah Hankins, Charlotte Hankins, and James Hankins; four brothers, Jerry Hankins of Waterford, MI, Ronnie Hankins of Columbus, MS, Randy Hankins of Wyoming, and Allen Hankins of Georgia; and one sister, Linda Diane Westmoreland of Tyler, TX.
