Obituary
Mr. Jimmy Lucas, age 66 of Vernon, AL, passed away Thursday, February 18, 2016, at DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa.
Mr. Lucas was born January 22, 1950, in Lamar Co., AL, to the late Valcus Ancel and Bessie Lee Lucas. He was a Baptist minister, pastoring at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Reform and Pilgrims Rest Baptist Church in Fayette. He was a member of the Echota Cherokee Tribe and the Sons of Confederate Veterans.
Mr. Lucas was also preceded in death by his grandson, Micah Johnson; two brothers, J.L. Lucas and Glen Lucas; and his sister, Helene McLemore.
A memorial service will be Sunday, February 21 at 2:00 in the chapel of Chandler Funeral Home with Roger Lucas and Billy Carl Sullivan officiating. Visitation will be 1-2 prior to the service.
Survivors include his wife, Kathy Lucas of Vernon, AL; two daughters, Kristi (BoBo) Bentley of Chelsea, AL and Mindy (Jeremy) Johnson of Northport, AL; one son, Daniel (Michelle) Lucas of Linden, AL; seven grandchildren, Kerri, Brook, and Braeden Bentley, Hunter and Hailey Skibo, Gracie and Eli Johnson; and his brother, Carl Lucas.
