Mrs. Joan Margaret Yerby, age 89 of the Crossville Community in Vernon, AL, passed away Wednesday, August 21, 2013, at her residence.
Mrs. Yerby was born May 23, 1924, in England, to the late Samual and Edith Micklefield. She was a retired dietitian at the hospital in Vernon and was a faithful member of Liberty Freewill Baptist Church in the Crossville Community. Mrs. Yerby was also preceded in death by her husband, Chester Yerby; her son, Danny Ray Yerby; three sisters; and three brothers.
Funeral services will be Friday at 10:00 at Liberty Freewill Baptist Church where she will lie in state 10-11 with Mike Nabors officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday evening 6-8 at the funeral home.
Survivors include one son, David (Peggy) Yerby of Vernon, AL; one daughter, Janet (Lanier) Perkins of Vernon, AL; four grandchildren, Tim (Brigette) Yerby of Jackson, GA, Shana (Larry) Olive of Smyrna, TN, April (Freddie) Cork of Fairhope, AL, and Benjamin (Lauren) Corbett of Moundville, AL; eight great-grandchildren, Justin Yerby, Bailey Yerby, Grant Olive, Mason Olive, Evan Corbett, Avery Corbett, Henry Cork, and Kathryn Cork; one sister, Barbara Robertson; and a host of nieces and nephews.
