Mrs. Johnnie Frances Jernigan Mordecai, age 90 of Vernon, AL, passed away Monday, April 12, 2021, at Generations of Vernon.

Mrs. Mordecai was born January 3, 1931, in Lowndes County, MS, to the late John Bankhead Jernigan and Corene Brewer Jernigan.  She was a seamstress, and was married to the late Charlie Marion Mordecai.  Mrs. Mordecai was also preceded in death by her two sons, John Paul Mordecai and Russell Scott Mordecai.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, at 11:00 AM, in the chapel of Chandler Funeral Home, with Tony Robertson officiating.  Burial will follow at Ebenezer Cemetery.  Visitation will be Wednesday, 10:00-11:00, prior to the service.

Pallbearers will be Kyle Robertson, Tony Robertson, Matt Maloney, Chris Mordecai, Jason Burks, and Curtis Heatherly.

Survivors include two daughters, Becky (Tony) Mordecai Robertson and Marion (Eddie) Mordecai Wright, both of Millport, AL; one sister, Sarah Jernigan Brummett of Caledonia, MS; four grandchildren, Hope (Matt) Robertson Maloney, Kyle Robertson, Chris Mordecai, and Angie Mortecai; six great-grandchildren; and three nieces, Kay Brummett Lee, Denise Brummett Stafford, and Ruth Ann Brummett Faris.
