Joseph "Joey" David Thomas, age 30, of Vernon, AL, passed away on Tuesday, January 17, 2017, in Vernon, AL.

Joey was born May 3, 1986, in Tuscaloosa, AL, to Pat and the late David Thomas. He was employed by Steel Dynamics Inc. in Columbus, MS. In addition to his father, Joey was also preceded in death by his grandparents, Charles and Aileen Thomas and Joe and Mary Davidowski.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 11:00 in the chapel of Chandler Funeral Home with Danny Thompson and Jeff Chaffin officiating. Burial will follow at Vernon City Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday evening 6-9.

Joey was a beloved father, son, and husband. He is survived by his wife, Kasey Thomas, one daughter, Leia Machelle Thomas, and two sons, Weldon Thomas and Weston Thomas, all from Vernon. He is also survived by his mother, Pat Thomas of Vernon; one sister, Susie (Justin) Lenahan of Birmingham, AL, and two brothers, Brad Thomas of Starkville, MS and Davey Thomas of San Diego, CA; three aunts, Kay Stickland of Jupiter, FL, Sue (Bill) Burke of Chicago, IL, and Norma Stanford of Vernon; two uncles, Elmer (Libby) Thomas and Fred (Mary) Thomas, both of Vernon; and many other friends and relatives.
