Mrs. Kathleen Newman Dees, age 103, of Montgomery, AL and formerly of Vernon, passed away Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at her residence.

Mrs. Dees was born September 28, 1921, to the late John and Emily (Davis) Smallwood.  She was a nurse, and was married to the late Hansell Newman and the late Perch Dees.  She was also preceded in death by her brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be Saturday, March 22, at 12:00 PM, in the chapel of Chandler Funeral Home, with Eddie Finch officiating.  Burial will follow at Wesley Chapel Cemetery.  Visitation will be 11:00-12:00 prior to the service.

Survivors include her children, Johnny (Marcia) Newman, Kay Newman, and Tommy (Becky) Newman; one step-son, Dickie (Celeste) Dees; one brother, Arthur "Jimmy" Smallwood; two grandchildren, Jennifer (Scott) Patrick and Jessica (David) Benjamin; three great-grandchildren, Daniel Benjamin, William Benjamin, and Eilidh Patrick; three step-grandchildren, Christa Nicholson, Aaron (Laura) Dees, and Greer Dees; three step-great-grandchildren, Eli (Aidan) Nicholson, Caroline (Wynn) Smith, and Lily Nicholson; and a host of nieces and nephews.
