Mr. Kenneth Lane Hattaway, age 78, of Vernon, AL, passed away Friday, October 3, 2025, at his residence.

Mr. Hattaway was born October 21, 1946, in Fayette, AL, to the late Alvin and Mildred (Bennet) Hattaway.  He graduated high school in 1965 and served in the National Guard Army for ten years.  Mr. Hattaway started working at a young age doing a paper route in Vernon and worked at the local grocery store on weekends.  He also worked for Thomas Trucking Company and for the family electrical construction company.  He went to North West Alabama College in 1965 and married his wife, Judy Walker Hattaway, in 1967.  Mr. Hattaway managed Hattaway Brothers Company from 1967 to 1975, then he was employed by Hyster Company until his retirement as the plant engineer and project manager, and he did several projects from the East Coast to West Coast and overseas.  He was also preceded in death by his grandson, Jacob Perkins, his daughter-in-law, Amber Hattaway, and two great-granddaughters, Avery and Blakeney Hankins.

Funeral services will be Monday, October 6, at 2:00 PM, at the First Baptist Church of Vernon, with Bro. Mark Presswood officiating.  Burial will follow at Furnace Hill.  Visitation will be 1:00-2:00 at the church prior to the service.

Pallbearers will be Justin Perkins, Micah Carter, Tommy Dale McClendon, Jerry Otts, James Hollis, Phillip Crossley, Dudley Barton, and Ron Mills.

Survivors include his wife, Judy Hattaway; his daughter, Stacey (Tony) Perkins; two sons Jeffery (Michelle) Hattaway and Jason (Emily) Hattaway; eight grandchildren, Justin (Courtney) Perkins, Dalton and Houston Avent, Olivia and Annslee Hattaway, Presley Hattaway, and Andrew (Caroline) and Dylan Hankins; five great-grandchildren, Lawson, Bryleigh Tatum, and Layla Kate Perkins, and Emerson and Everly Avent; and two brothers, Banks (Starcia) Hattaway and Terrell Hattaway.
