Mr. Lamon Duckworth, age 78 of Vernon, AL, passed away Saturday, September 22, 2012, at his residence.

Mr. Duckworth was born July 19, 1934, in Fayette, AL. He was a store owner in the Crossville Community and enjoyed fishing, hunting, making jigs, knife sharpening, and being with his grandchildren.

Mr. Duckworth was preceded in death by his mother, Lena Smith Duckworth; three brothers, Lee Duckworth, Luke Duckworth, and Lendon Duckworth; three sisters, Laudie Sanders, Lorene Frye, and Luzell Maddox; and grandson, Adam Cook.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11:00 in the funeral home chapel with Mike Nabors and M.H. Hollis officiating. Graveside services will follow at Liberty Freewill Baptist Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Duckworth, of Vernon, AL; two daughters, Anne (Bobby) Betts of Starkville, MS and Teresa Cook of Vernon, AL; brother, Luther Duckworth of Huntsville, AL; three grandchildren, Trey Cook, Sierra Cook, and Kristen Cook, all of Vernon, AL; two step-grandchildren, Candice Haygood and April Betts; and one great-grandchild.
