Mrs. Lanita "Lita" Mayers, age 54 of Vernon, AL, passed away Tuesday, April 2, 2013, at her residence.

Mrs. Mayers was born July 14, 1958 in Tuscaloosa, AL to Britt Duke and Watana Cantrell. She was the CEO of Mac's Minit Mart and a member of the First United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, and two beloved uncles, Frank Mayers and Hoyt Dubose.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 2:00 at the First United Methodist Church where she will like in state 1-2 with Jimmy Aycock, Dr. Jim Savage, and Patrick Gunn officiating. Visitation will be Friday evening 5-8 at the church.

Survivors include her husband, Mac Mayers of Vernon, AL; two daughters, Amber (Doug) Jackson of Atlanta, GA and Laura Ashley (Brian Eagan) Mayers of Columbus, MS; son, Richard McMillan Mayer, Jr. of Vernon, AL; father, Britt Duke of Vernon, AL; mother, Watana (Richard) Cantrell of Vernon, AL; two brothers, Edward Raymond (Melinda) Taylor of Birmingham, AL and Jared Duke of Springfield, AL; sister, Britette (Curtis) Lee of Tuscaloosa, AL; special aunt, Nellie Dubose of Vernon, AL; special friend, Melanie Sparks; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, and cousins.
