Mrs. Lily Jane Johnson Prater, age 89 years and six months, passed away Thursday, April 10, 2014, at Fayette Long Term Care in Fayette.

Mrs. Prater was born September 22, 1924 in Lamar Co., AL, to the late Harvey Tipton and Emma Duke Johnson.  She was a member of the Christian Chapel Church of Christ and worked as a Bell South telephone operator in her early years and enjoyed gardening and cooking.  Mrs. Prater had been in the care of the gracious nurses of Fayette Long Term Care for the past two plus years.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Prater was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Cash (Jack) Prater; three brothers, Gilbert O. Johnson, Wilburn Johnson, and Carlos Johnson; three sisters, Flora Dean VanHorn, Elna Mae Bryant, and Vaudie B. Williams.

Funeral services will be Friday at 3:00 in the funeral home chapel with Travis Brown and Jesse Phillips presiding.  Burial will follow at the Christian Chapel Church of Christ cemetery.  Visitation will be Friday 2:30-3:00 prior to the service.

Survivors include her brother, Johnny Mac Johnson and his wife Fran, and numerous nieces and nephews.
