Mrs. Linda Cowart Newman, age 62, was peacefully called to her heavenly home on Friday, November 2, 2018, with her husband and loved ones by her side.

A celebration of Linda's life will be held on November 5, at 4:00 PM at Chandler Funeral Home of Vernon, AL, with visitation from 2:00-4:00 PM.  Terry McAdams, Seaphues Dailey, and David Sullivan will officiate the service.  Burial will follow at Furnace Hill.

Pallbearers will be Lynn Jordan, Mike Daffron, Terry Stapp, Larry Northam, Zane Shackleford, Beech Hankins, J.D. Trull, and Mike Stallings.

Linda was born September 28, 1956, in Aberdeen, MS, to Thomas and Audean (Rasberry) Cowart.  She was a teacher at Millport Elementary and  Vernon Elementary Schools.  Linda was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma International Society and Alabama Education Retiree Association of Lamar County.  She was also a member of Nebo United Methodist Church.

Linda will be forever remembered by her parents, Thomas and Dean Cowart; her loving husband of 45 years, David Max Newman; her son, Lee Newman; her daughter, Leah (Newman) Kendrick and husband Shawn.  She will also be remembered by five grandchildren, Madeline Alligood, Caleb Alligood, Wesley Alligood, Madison Kendrick, and Bradley Kendrick, and a host of friends and her church family.
