Obituary
Mrs. Loree Butler Christain passed away Thursday, May 25, 2017, at the age of 99.
Mrs. Christain was born February 8, 1918, in Lamar Co., AL, to the late Thomas and Cora Hankins. She was a store keeper, a seamstress, and in retirement, Mrs. Christain enjoyed her flowers, gardening, sewing, and quilting. She had quilted several hundred quilts, and it is believed to be at least 600. On May 14, 2017, Mrs. Christain was able to attend Liberty Free Will Baptist Church Homecoming and Decoration Day service for the 100th consecutive time, starting in May 1918 at the age of three months. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Christain was preceded in death by her husbands, Willis Butler and Kirk Christain, two brothers, and three sisters.
Funeral services will be Sunday at 3:00 at Liberty Free Will Baptist Church with Al Hamm officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery. Visitation will be 1:30-3:00 at the church prior to the service.
Mrs. Christain leaves behind one son, Thurston Butler of Columbus, MS; two grandsons, David Butler of New Orleans, LA and Paul Butler of Columbus, MS; one great-grandson, Rob Griffin of Columbus, MS; and several nieces and nephews.
