Mrs. Lula Lavern Kirtley, age 83 of Vernon, AL, passed away Wednesday, March 1, 2017, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Columbus.
Mrs. Kirtley was born December 26, 1933, in Lamar Co., AL, to the late W.J. and Edna Earl Glasgow. She was a weaver at the cotton mill and was married to the late Sydney Paul Kirtley. Mrs. Kirtley was also preceded in death by her grandson, Tim Kirtley; seven brothers, Platt Glasgow, Clay Glasgow, Charles Glasgow, James Glasgow, Bert Glasgow, Billy Glasgow, and Bobby Glasgow; and two sisters, Velma Moore and Stella Shaw.
Funeral services will be Friday at 3:00 in the chapel of Chandler Funeral Home with Joe Moseley officiating. Burial will follow at Furnace Hill. Visitation will be Friday afternoon 2-3 prior to the service.
Survivors include one son, Chris (Linda) Kirtley of Vernon, AL; one granddaughter, Christy Young of Greenville, SC; two great-grandchildren, KD and Brittany Young; three sisters, Dean Vail, Peggy Fulmer, and Polly Bardon; and a host of nieces and nephews.
